Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Vertex Unit

A. O. Smith is the official water heater provider for season five of ABC’s hit TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Millions watch every week as the EMHE crew scream “Move That Bus!” for one deserving family, and A. O. Smith’s goal this season is to outfit those deserving families with a new Vertex, or other high-efficiency water heater model, to take care of the new lucky homeowners’ water heating needs. For each episode, the producers of the show select a deserving family and build them an entirely new house in one week or less.

Pinon, Arizona

On Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the Yazzie family of Pinon, Arizona, received a new home after dealing with extremely poor living conditions on their Navajo reservation. A. O. Smith took part in this build by donating two 120 gallon residential electric units. One was used in the family’s main house and the other was installed in the daughter’s separate living quarters for her and her two children.

Corvallis, Oregon

Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition built a new home for the Byers family of Corvallis, Oregon. Episode two was in honor of seven year old Jenessa Byers, who was diagnosed with pediatric cancer in 2006. Since her diagnosis, she decided to help others find the strength and inspiration to beat cancer. A. O. Smith donated a Vertex to the Byers home.

Honolulu, Hawaii

Season five of EMHE premiered on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 8/7 p.m. CDT, and featured the Akana family of Honolulu, Hawaii. The Akanas were faced with a dilapidated, sinking home. The EMHE crew worked diligently to help this selfless family, who has opened their hearts to help their poor community, receive a new home. The EMHE crew built the Akanas their dream home, and A. O. Smith was able to be a part of the experience by donating two electric water heaters. The electric water heaters were selected due to the lack of natural gas on the island.
